At Eurofirms, we offer you this summer hospitality sector report so that people like you can have relevant and useful information.
Summer 2025 is set to be a record season for recruitment in the hospitality sector. According to our data, a 30% increase in demand for professionals in this field is expected compared to the first half of the year. This increase is due to the sustained growth of tourism in Spain and the advance planning by companies to respond to high seasonal demand.
The areas with the highest volume of recruitment
Provinces such as Madrid, Barcelona, the Balearic Islands and Valencia are experiencing the highest volume of hiring for this summer, due to their strong tourist appeal. In June 2024, Madrid and Barcelona led the demand for cooks and waiters with 10% and 9% of total contracts, respectively, closely followed by the Balearic Islands, Malaga and Alicante. Furthermore, hiring of cleaning staff experienced significant growth in July, with increases of 43% in Madrid, 41% in Valencia and 41% in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, demonstrating the urgent need to reinforce teams in areas of high tourist influx.
Most sought-after profiles
The most in-demand positions during the summer season continue to be traditional hospitality industry positions: waiters, cooks and cleaners. These three profiles represented 22% of all summer contracts in 2024, maintaining their relevance throughout the year. Beyond the hospitality industry, positions in retail and logistics, especially store and warehouse assistants, also stand out. There has also been an increase in the recruitment of professionals for sporting, cultural and leisure events, reflecting the transversality of tourism in the summer labour market.
